#81 – Christianity and Abortion: The Spirit of Herod

So if you’re new round here and don’t know already. This is the last part in the Christianity and Abortion series (cue the tears).

Cue the tears

If you haven’t read the other blogs in the series, you can find them here.

For the most recent blog: #80 – Christianity and Abortion: Bodily Autonomy.

So as we draw this series to a close, in this blog I will dive into being in agreement with a witch, the fear of God and the spirit of Herod.

Being in agreement with a witch

I once heard Tiphani Montgomery say in relation to all this talk of abortion: don’t you think it’s weird that as a Christian you’re in agreement with a witch?

Ngl when I heard this I was confused.

First of all, I’m thinking what witch is she talking about? These times nowadays, people are so bold about their witchcraft and the things they get up to. They actually don’t even care anymore.

Anyway, she went on to say that as a Christian, as a person who believes in Jesus: how can you be in agreement with a witch?

Light and darkness don’t mix. We are meant to be the light of the world. Salt and light. A city set on a hill. All of them tings.

Then imagine, I was on Twitter one day, shortly after the announcement of Roe vs Wade being overturned and I stumbled across something. This person’s Twitter handle literally said ‘witch’ in it. In her bio, it had those potion emojis and all them types of things as well. Anyways, her tweet was her complaining that abolishing abortion is taking away human rights, etc.

Then I remembered what Tiphani said.

Wow that is wild

Sorry, but how can this lady be calling herself a witch on Twitter, and people are still liking and engaging in her Tweets?

Bye.

Where is the fear of God?

Even with this whole abortion debate, many Christians are pro-abortion due to their ignorance of the magnitude of an abortion.

Sometimes, you really just have to stop.

Take time.

Look at the people you’re in agreement with.

Really look at them.

Look at their character.

Then consider whether you’re really in agreement with them because you believe in the subject at hand, or are you in agreement because you fear being isolated…

As a Christian, we know that we’re in this world but not of this world. There should be some obvious differences between us and everyone else. Just because the world agrees with something, we shouldn’t just go along with it out of fear.

Ooooo, I remember when Myles Rutherford said ‘the fear of man has replaced the fear of God‘.

And I oop

It’s too true. Nowadays we’re so fearful of what other people will think and say about us, instead of the One who matters the most

We all do it and it’s so silly when you really deep it.

That scripture comes to mind: Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell (Matthew 10:28).

Yup, the Bible really says that.

King Herod in the Bible

Everyone knows the story of Jesus’ birth. So if we start off in Matthew 2: Jesus was born during the time of King Herod.

King Herod called the Magi (the wise men) and told them to go to Bethlehem to find baby Jesus. He claimed he wanted to know where Jesus was born so he could worship Him, these times he really wanted to kill Him.

But God warned the Magi in a dream not to go back to Herod (so God can send us warnings in dreams – noted). Then when Herod realised they had outwitted him, he ordered the death of every child in Bethlehem under 2 years old – known as the massacre of the innocents.

Why did Herod do this, you may ask?

Why? Because of the spirit of Herod

Because he felt threatened.

The spirit of Herod

I’ve learned that the spirit of Herod seeks to destroy anyone it feels threatened by. This is why Herod wanted to kill Jesus.

Even throughout the Bible, there were other Herod’s, and they all had this same spirit. One Herod beheaded John the Baptist (Matthew 14:1-12), another Herod killed James the brother of John, and tried to kill Peter as well (Acts 12:1-19)

The spirit of Herod clearly tries to hinder God’s plan; this spirit tries to prevent people from achieving their purpose by killing them. We can even look at Moses and see the spirit of Pharaoh (similar to the spirit of Herod), that tried to kill Moses (Exodus 2:15).

All the names I mentioned: Jesus, John the Baptist, James, Peter and Moses all did amazing things for the kingdom of God. They all had a huge call on their life and the spirit of Herod clearly tried to stop it.

The link between abortion and the spirit of Herod

By now, you should have a good understanding of the spirit of Herod.

So what does that have to do with abortion?

I’ll give you some time to think about the connection yourself before I explain…

I'm waiting for you to realise the connection between the spirit of Herod and abortion

I’ve previously explained how abortion is literally child sacrifice. Calm.

We know that before we were even born, God had a plan for our life, as shown in Jeremiah 1:5. Calm.

We also know that the spirit of Herod seeks to kill people to prevent them from achieving their God given purpose because it feels threatened by them. Calm.

So, this pro-abortion movement must be influenced by the spirit of Herod. The spirit of Herod is very present in the world today and is fearful of the children that are yet to be born because they have a powerful call on their lives.

This child/children will carry the spirit of Elijah and will be bold enough to call out those in positions of power and authority for their evil and wrongdoing. They will be part of a generation that causes a massive difference on this earth.

The kingdom of darkness obviously doesn’t want this, hence why people be fighting so hard for abortion. The kingdom of darkness doesn’t want the children of God to rise up and take their place and walk in their God-given purpose.

Final words and that

To conclude, this was deffo a heavy topic that took me way too long to write.

I’ve just shared everything I’ve learned over the past couple of months.

If you like, ignore everything I’ve said and be ignorant of the realities of what’s happening around you. Or, you can choose to do your own research and pray that God opens your eyes.

Either way, I hope you’ve learned something xxx
